Terms & conditions of use of Social media

These Terms and Conditions of Use (the “Terms”) govern the use of social media services operated by Kikkoman Corporation and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively, “Kikkoman”).

By accessing or using Kikkoman-affiliated social media services (the “Social Media Services”), users (“Users”) are deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms, without limitation or reservation.

These Terms apply in conjunction with the Kikkoman Group Social Media Policy, the Privacy Policy, and any platform-specific rules.

  1. DEFINITION OF SOCIAL MEDIA

For purposes of these Terms, “social media” refers to internet-based communication platforms that enable users to create, post, and share content with an unspecified number of users, including but not limited to:

  • online bulletin boards,
  • blogs and microblogs (e.g., X / Twitter),
  • social networking services (e.g., Facebook, Instagram),
  • video-sharing platforms,
  • Q&A and comparison websites, and
  • similar online services.
  1. SCOPE OF APPLICATION
  1. These Terms apply to all Users of the Social Media Services.
  1. Where specific social media accounts or platforms operated by Kikkoman (“Social Media Sites”) have separate terms, those platform-specific terms shall prevail in case of inconsistency.
  1. TERMS OF USE

Users agree to the following:

  1. Users assume full responsibility for all consequences arising from their use of the Social Media Services, including the submission, posting, uploading, displaying, viewing, or sharing of content (“Content”).
  2. Content shared by Users may be viewed by other users and the general public. The handling of personal data in connection with Social Media Services is governed by the Kikkoman Group Privacy Policy and applicable local privacy laws, including the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012, where applicable.
  3. Users are responsible for safeguarding their login credentials and account security.
  4. If a User causes harm to a third party through use of the Social Media Services, the User shall resolve such dispute at their own responsibility and expense, without causing inconvenience to Kikkoman.
  5. Kikkoman shall not be liable for damages arising from Users’ use of the Social Media Services, except where such damages are caused by Kikkoman’s willful misconduct or gross negligence, or where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.
  6. Kikkoman reserves the right to seek compensation for damages suffered as a result of Users’ violation of these Terms.
  7. In case of violation of these Terms, Kikkoman may, without prior notice, remove Content, restrict access, or take other appropriate measures.
  8. Kikkoman does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of Content posted by Users or third parties and is not responsible for exposure to inappropriate or harmful content, to the extent permitted by law.
  1. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES

Users shall not engage in any of the following activities. Kikkoman may remove Content and take necessary action without prior notice:

  1. Infringing the rights or property of Kikkoman, other Users, or third parties
  2. Defamation or damage to reputation
  3. Disclosure of personal data of Users or third parties without authorization
  4. Election campaigning or political activities
  5. Religious solicitation or promotion of special interest groups
  6. Commercial or business use of Content without permission
  7. Commercial exploitation of Social Media Services
  8. Acts that place Kikkoman or others at a disadvantage
  9. Unlawful acts or acts contrary to public order or morals
  10. Posting harmful, abusive, obscene, or immoral content
  11. Activities related to criminal conduct
  12. Discriminatory, hateful, or offensive conduct
  13. Disruption of Social Media Services or damage to Kikkoman’s reputation
  14. Impersonation or identity concealment for improper purposes
  15. Distribution of malware or harmful programs
  16. Any other conduct deemed inappropriate by Kikkoman
  1. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
  1. Intellectual property rights in Content belong to Kikkoman or the relevant content provider (“Content Provider”).
  2. By sharing Content, Users grant Kikkoman a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to use, display, reproduce, distribute, and modify such Content for purposes related to Social Media Services.
  3. Users represent and warrant that Content does not infringe third-party rights and agree to resolve any disputes arising therefrom without involving Kikkoman.
  4. Users waive, to the extent permitted by law, the exercise of moral rights in Content shared with Kikkoman.
  1. REVISIONS TO TERMS

Kikkoman may revise these Terms from time to time. Revisions take effect upon posting on the applicable Social Media Services or the Kikkoman Group Social Media Policy page. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

  1. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Japan, and the Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
