Chili con Carne
Ingredients
For the chili con carne
Olive oil – 2 Tbsp
Onion (chopped) – 1 piece
Garlic (minced) – 3 cloves
Ground beef – 1 lb
Salt – 1 tsp
Black pepper (ground) – ½ tsp
Chili powder – 1 Tbsp
Ground cumin – 1 tsp
Smoked paprika – 1 tsp
Dried oregano – ½ tsp
Cayenne pepper – ¼ tsp
Tomato paste – 2 Tbsp
Diced tomatoes (canned) – 14.5 oz
Kidney beans (canned) – 14.5 oz
Black beans (canned) – 14.5 oz
Beef broth – 1 cup
Kikkoman Worcestershire Sauce – 1 Tbsp
Sugar – 1 Tbsp
Optional toppings
Cheddar cheese (shredded)
Sour cream
Cilantro (rough chopped)
Spring onion (chopped)
Sliced jalapeños
Guacamole
Preparation
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Sauté onion and garlic for about 2 minutes, until fragrant.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add all herbs and spices, then stir for 1 minute.
Add tomato paste and cook for another minute to deepen flavor.
Pour in diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and beef broth.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
Add Worcestershire sauce and sugar, then reduce heat to low.
Simmer for an additional 3 minutes and taste to adjust seasoning.
Ladle the chili con carne into bowls.
Top with cheese, sour cream, cilantro, or other desired toppings.
Serve with cornbread, tortilla chips, or over rice.
