Classic Burger
Ingredients
For the build
Burger buns – 4 pieces
Sliced cheese (2 pcs each) – 4 slices
Green lettuce – 4 leaves
Tomato (sliced ¼ inch thick) – 4 slices
Onion (thinly sliced ¼ inch thick) – 1 piece
Boiled pickles (round slices) – 12 pcs
Mayonnaise – 4 Tbsp
Mustard – 2 Tbsp
Ketchup – 4 Tbsp
Butter (for toasting buns) – 2 Tbsp
For the burger patties
Ground beef (80/20 fat ratio) – 1 lb
Kikkoman Tokuyo Soy Sauce – 1 Tbsp
Bread crumbs – ½ cup
Black pepper (ground) – pinch
Kikkoman Worcestershire Sauce – 13.6 g
Preparation
In a bowl, gently mix all the patty ingredients until well combined.
Divide the mixture into 4 portions (about ¼ lb each).
Shape into patties about ¾ inch thick, pressing a small indention in the center to prevent bulging.
Note: patties will shrink slightly during cooking.
Heat a grill or pan over medium-high heat.
Cook each patty for 3–4 minutes per side (for medium doneness).
During the last minute, place a slice of cheese on top and cover to melt.
Spread butter on the inside of each bun and toast until golden brown.
Spread mayonnaise on the bun, then layer lettuce, the patty with melted cheese, tomato, pickles, and onion.
Drizzle ketchup and mustard.
Place the top bun, press gently, and serve immediately with fries or coleslaw.
